The others had some pretty good ideas. I really like the one about having her write in a journal. Believe me that does work sometimes. I understand what you are going through I have had some clients who were very closed off, what I did was almost let them lead the sessions for a while (remembering not to lose control of the sessions) but just sit back and see where she wants to take you first, instead of you taking her somewhere she is not ready to go. I believe with abused clients sometimes we have to let them guide us so that they don't feel victimized in therapy like they were by the abuser. Good luck and I hope things turn around from you.
