Steve, let me know what you find. In a trial I am running at the Navy on 500 depressed subjects receiving either meditation/tai chi or else CBT, we are using the BSI. For one aspect of it (where I am also using HRV to assess autonomic arousal in this population pre post intervention) I am also using the PAI. Both are somewhat expensive with large numbers. The PAI, of course is the far better measure, but it is costly and time consuming. The BSI has no real validity measures, can float way up or way down, depending upon pt being a bit too demonstrative or else too minimizing. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale is public domain, and works quite well. The POMS is public domain, I believe, and works pretty well - and gives you the scales you want. Good luck.
