I, too, am looking for answers about sociopathic behavior.
My concern is for a 40 yr old family member: simply cannot tell the truth, tests the rules of society constantly, even when faced with facts of what he's done - will deny (says he won't admit to anything) rather than admit and work on a solution to prevent further esculation of the problem. In addition, there is occassional use of crack cocaine - can function for long periods of time without it, but when faced with life problems (divorce) - becomes a several day binge.
When things are going well in his life, he works and can earn very decent money, great personality, everyone likes him (this is a negative when he's on a drug binge because anyone and everyone will loan him money). Has been to prison before - theft charge and HE decided to quit going to probation meetings which would have resulted in the charge being expunged.
- He has been in treatment programs. However due to insurance, would get released with info saying he has gained skills to control his addiction. As far as I know, the socio problem never addressed. Another clinic kept him less than 24 hrs after a 4 day drug binge/threat of suicide and released him saying that he didn't want to hurt himself any longer (doubt he was detoxed in that length of time)
-Is there any hope for help
-What is the best way to get a medical person to address all of the issues?
-I hate to see him end up in the prison system when there may be something medical that could save his life.
