I am a Behavioral Therapy Tech. working in a grouphome setting and have a question about the occurance of Alzheimer within a Down's population. I am working with an individual who has re-developed explosive behaviors form which have not presented for approximately 15 years. The current behaviors are now worse than previous. We have tracked these for a year and they are increasing in frequency and duration. As the individual has a somewhat limited understanding of the behaviors and communication of the same it has been dificult to pinpoint the antecedents. Medical testing has confirmed that the issue is probably not physical. Is anyone currently dealing with these issues in a Down's population around the age of 50. Could there be any correlation with Alzheimers or Dementia and the Down's Syndrome and could you direct me to possible research being done in this area.
