That is correct. The impaired serotonin balance theory is not based on all the evidence. Yes, Anafranil worked when other tricyclics didn't, and it was later learned that SSRI's work, but that doesn't mean that OCD is a serotonin disease. Morphine has been shown to work as does amphetamines. I have also had patients tell me cocaine and alcohol can relieve symptoms, not to mention becoming a Jehovah Witness convert.
