Default Paperback! "Endless Forms Most Beautiful"

Sean Carroll's evo-devo text is available in paperback, $15.95, at Barnes and other places. "Evo-devo" recognizes the basic truth that an evolution in form requires an evolution in the developmental sequences required for the form. Evolution is, therefore, a story not only of changes in shapes but changes in how those shapes emerge.

A more than good book, great price.

Also: Kirschner, M. & Gerhart, J. (2005) The Plausibility of Life: Resolving Darwin's Dilemma. New Haven, CT: Yale University Press, should also be out in paper before too long.

Own them both and, if you are a glutton, Gould's "Structure of Evolutionary Theory" even though he cites Dawkins rarely. Never let yourself get dusty from lack of exposure to their thinking. The only hook-up for them yet to make is that between emergent networks and developmental experiments...

The greatest wonder? That Barnes has "Endless Forms" on its shelf of "New Non-Fiction"!!!! The publisher, Norton, doesn't often push duds. Therefore, they found a market for Carroll's work and that of similar thinkers! These are indeed the best of all possible times!
