Default Recommended Journals/Conferences

A participant in our Intensive Training Program writes: -snip- "can you recommend what you consider the best CBT journals, in terms of clinical relevance, etc. Also, -snip- what conferences/meetings do you recommend?"

For practitioners, I'd recommend Cognitive and Behavioral Practice (http://www.journals.elsevier.com/cog...e/#description) which is published by the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (www.abct.org). Cognitive and Behavioral Practice consistently has high-quality articles which are based on up-to-date research but which focus on real-life clinical practice. It is really useful.

For academia, there are many good options. I'd recommend doing a literature search on the topics you are interested in rather than limiting yourself to one or two journals.

In terms of conventions, we find the annual convention of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (www.abct.org) to be a great way to find out about new research, hear directly from the big names in CBT, and get some CE credit. Next year's convention will be November 15-18 in National Harbor, MD.

On this side of the Atlantic, both the BABCP annual conference and the EABCT annual conference are a wonderful way of finding out the latest, getting in touch with other CBT therapists, chatting with leading researchers.... And there are always one- or two-day workshops on specific topics prior to the conference itself.

The BABCP has branches all around England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland which run workshops, usually twice a year.

The EABCT website has a list of CBT organisations in many different European countries - this list includes Morocco and Israel, as well as the Eastern European countries, and Turkey.

Journals: Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy. The Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, an e-journal. (Both from BABCP.) Behavior Research and Therapy.
