Re: New Courses Added to Distance Training Program
The Value of a Study-Analysis
Understanding Classical Adlerian theory and philosophy is usually not too difficult, if one takes the time to study and discuss the great body of Adler's original writings. Applying these principles in psychotherapy is more difficult, requiring direct, personal experience of that process, and sufficient guidance in the analysis of life styles and the practice of therapeutic techniques. Living Adlerian philosophy, so that what one is, and does, is congruent with what one says or teaches others, is the most challenging level of accomplishment. A clinician's psychological insight can be accurate and impressive, but if his behavior, attitude, and feelings do not reflect the values at the core of Adlerian psychology, a client or student may become justifiably skeptical. A basic study-analysis provides the one-to-one experience of Classical Adlerian psychotherapy, with the goal of promoting optimal personal and professional development. Each aspect of the theory and philosophy is personalized, with the added feature of being able to question each step of the process. The advanced study-analysis prepares the therapist for becoming a Training Analyst capable of teaching Classical Adlerian theory and practice, providing case supervision, and conducting a study-analysis. |

Re: Experiential Workshop in Classical Adlerian Psychotherapy, July 23-24, Bellingham, WA
We had a superb two-day Experiential Workshop in Bellingham this past weekend (July 23-24). Several participants engaged the exceptional peer group of Classical Adlerians with personal and professional issues and came away fortified with encouragement and insight to sustain their ongoing development. At one of our many delightful dinners together, we toasted Stefanie Lietzow from Germany, who just earned her Certification in Classical Adlerian Psychotherapy. She plans to begin teaching the Classical Adlerian approach in her country. We plan to offer the experiential workshop every summer for our distance training students.
