Ed Wilson (and others) cite incest avoidance as a fundamental human adaptation. It may be that they asked the wrong people in their surveys.
Sex between consenting adults of the same family is not a crime in Spain, Portugal, and France. Romania could join the club. Incest is a crime in Austria but, according to CBS, Josef Fritzl might have gotten less prison time if he had not committed rape, fathered seven children, and kept his daughter in the basement for 24 years.
