Skinner's rooster taught a lot of us about superstition and it's also true that many things happen at once. For example, a teenaged male, once in a lot of trouble for his poor grades, once got plenty of lectures not only about his homework but also about his clutter in the bathroom.

I fixed him with some high tech medicines and mom settled but not for long: she now lectures him the messes made by his sister and, particularly when he does his homework.

Omigod (a Pinker moment): by fixing him, I reinforced her. His craziness is gone; hers is worse...
