Virtue itself can be suspect.
According to Glenn Beck, 11/19/08, Jim Jones was an athiest organizing his revolution in San Francisco. Join his cult and Jones issued you $5 per week for an allowance but if you needed pants or dental and the cult paid your bill. (Given that 95% of your medical costs occur in the last six months of a normal life span, the cult made money and Jones became famous.) A series of news articles about the cult prompted Jones to move himself and 900 followers to Guyana where they all drank Kool-Aid and cyanide on November 18, 1978. They all, of course, left their assets to the Soviet Union.
Beck compared Jones to Bill Ayers; Wikipedia supports the role of socialism in Jones's delusions. I'm more inclined to think of Al Gore or BHO and consider how thoughts become emergent networks that have their own Darwinian interests regardless of what they do to their carrier...
